OBIT JOHNSON, ELMER RANDOLPH
JOHNSON, Elmer Randolph, 83, of Marion, died Friday, March 5, 1993 at his
home in Marion. He was retired from Va. House Furniture where he served as
plant contractor and supervisor for 18 years. He was a native of Ashe Co.,
N.C. born on November 12, 1909. He was a member of the Riverside Baptist
Church. He was a former self-employed contractor. Mr. Johnson was preceded in
death by his parents, J. Ransom and Alice Shoaf Johnson; a sister, Mae Dutton;
and two brothers, Walter Johnson and Paul Johnson. He is survived by his wife,
Dorothy Mildred Johnson, Marion; one son, William H. "Minner" Johnson, Marion;
four daughters, Mrs. Richard (Betty) Owens, Marion, Mrs. Edward (Tootsie)
Foster, Marion, Mrs. Winston (Carolyn) Underwood, Roanoke, Mrs. Ronald (Kaye)
Smith, Dothan, Ala., Mr. Johnson is survived by the following grandchildren,
Lisa Owens Tuell, Opal Burris, Richard H. Owens Jr., Joe Bill Johnson, Pam
Swiengruber, Melanie Jones, all of Marion, Karen Strom, Christiansburg, Sharon
Underwood, Jonathan Underwood, Christopher Underwood, Jason Underwood, all of
Roanoke; ten great-grandchildren. Memorial services will be held Monday, March
8, 1993 at 2 p.m. in Barnett's Funeral Chapel with Rev. Neville Mozingo
officiating. The family will receive friends Monday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at
Barnett's Funeral Home. Barnett's Marion Funeral Home is in charge of
arrangements.
