OBIT FANNING, GEORGE

FANNING, George, 74, of Burgaw, N.C., died Thursday, March 4, 1993. Mr. Fanning was born December 13, 1918, in Narrows, Va., and was a son of the late Fred E. and Nettie Robertson Fanning. Mr. Fanning was a World War II U.S. Navy veteran. He is survived by his wife, Goldie Martin, Burgaw, N.C.; two daughters, Frieda McKeel of Danville, Bonnie McGuire of Linwood, N.C.; two sons, Lawrence Fanning of Cedar City, Utah, Gary Fanning of Burgaw, N.C.; two sisters, Alice Kinder of Tannersville, W.Va., Alene Stanley of Bud, W.Va.; two brothers, Marvin Fanning of Narrows, Ted Fanning of Welcome, N.C.; nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Graveside funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Monday, March 8, 1993, at Birchlawn Burial Park in Pearisburg, Va., with the Rev. Harry Goodwin officiating. The family will receive friends at the Givens Funeral Home in Pearisburg from 7 until 9 Sunday evening.
