WRESTLING-BRANCH WINS CONFERENCE MATCH

In Asheville, N.C., VMI wrestler Charley Branch won a major decision over Appalachian State's Kyle Kuykendall 10-1 to claim the Southern Conference tournament 142-pound weight class. Branch, who also made all-conference, advances to the NCAA championships March 18-20 in Ames Iowa.

Tennessee-Chattanooga won the tournament with 87.25 points. Appalachian State had 83.5, The Citadel 62, VMI 57.25 and Davidson 5.5.
