NEW RIVER PEOPLE IN BUSINESS

Century 21 Real Estate of the Mid-Atlantic States recently announced the recipients of the Centurion Award, the most prestigious award presented by Century 21.

Only 35 Realtors out of more than 5,000 Century 21 sales associates in the mid-Atlantic states received the award, which recognizes outstanding production for 1992. The local winner was SHIRLEY LOAN, Realtor with Century 21 Maddy Realty in Christiansburg.

\ PAUL P. WISMAN, has been elected to the Board of Directors of the National Bank. Wisman is vice president of Investments for Grundy National Bank and manager of assets for Nicewonder Investments.

\ KERRY B. DONNELLY of Radford has been inducted as a fellow of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons.

The State Board for Accountancy says the following people have passed the Uniform Certified Public Accountant Examination:

\ JOHN M. CHRISTOPHER of Blacksburg, ANTHONY B. GOFF of Wytheville, WAYNE H. HOWELL of Blacksburg, ALLEN S. LAVENDER of Christiansburg, SOPHIA LU of Christiansburg, SUSAN K. TUNG of Blacksburg and DEBORAH M. WILLIAMS of Christiansburg.

\ THOMAS S. COX of Draper Aden Associates of Blacksburg has passed Virginia's professional engineer examination. Cox has been an engineer-in-training the past four years. He is a project engineer in the municipal division of Draper Aden.

\ ALENNE WALKER, owner and operator of The Plant Plant in Christiansburg, has been elected vice president/president elect of the Virginia Herb Growers and Marketers Association, a non-profit group that promotes wholesale and retail herb business throughout Virginia. Walker will be vice president this year and assume the presidency in 1994.

AMY ROCKHILL, orthodontist, participated in a joint clinical congress sponsored by the American Association of Orthodontists and the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry. The session, titled "Team Treatment for the '90s," was the first scientific program jointly sponsored by the two organizations. Paget and Rockhill have practiced together in Blacksburg since 1989.

Four New River representatives of The Mutual of New York have been named to the company's 100 Club: CHRIS CAVENESS, FRANK FOLEY, LEON LOUTHEN and TONY MULLINS. They are in the top 10 percent in client development.

\ CHRIS HARRISON of the Corporate Planning Group in Radford has completed the MONY-Med Program with The Mutual of New York. The program is designed to assist medical professionals in business planning.

\ SHERI B. DOCKWEILER has been appointed compliance officer of the National Bank of Blacksburg.

\ DANIEL N. CARPER, owner of Carper Insurance Agency in Blacksburg, has completed all requirements for the certified insurance counselor designation from the Society of Certified Insurance Counselors in Austin, Texas.

\ AL SMITH of Radford has completed the basic course in auctioneering offered by the Mendenhall School of Auctioneering.

\ LARRY LINKOUS, a Montgomery County businessman and member of the County Board of Supervisors, was recently elected president of the Virginia Auctioneers Association at the 35th annual convention.

\ S. KENDALL ANDERSON, president of Anderson & Associates, a Blacksburg-based engineering firm, was recently appointed to the Blue Ridge Regional Education and Training Council by Gov. Douglas Wilder.

Central Fidelity recently announced promotions of two New River Valley employees:

\ JUANITA H. ELLETT, who has been with Central Fidelity since 1972, has been promoted to vice president. Previously, she served as trust officer and trust administrator for 20 years in both Roanoke and the New River Valley offices.

\ KRISTA C. AAMODT was recently promoted to assistant vice president. She has served as the branch manager of the University Mall-Blacksburg Office.

\ DR. MILAN M. JOVANOVIC, director of research and development of Delta Power Electronics Lab in Blacksburg, has been listed in the 15th edition of Men of Achievement, which contains approximately 5,500 biographies of influential men and women from around the world.

\ GENEVA A. COX, was recently promoted to vice president of marketing of First National Bank.

Cox, a native of Floyd County, has 15 years of banking experience.

\ RALPH PETRONE of Blacksburg recently earned the senior residential appraiser designation from the Appraisal Institute, the major industry trade group. The designation is the most widely recognized residential designation in the real estate appraisal profession.

\ DR. NATHANIEL TUCK recently attended an educational seminar on the newly published Guidelines For Chiropractic Quality Assurance and Practice Parameters.

\ TED MELKUS recently retired from Litton Poly-Scientific after 34 years of service.
