NEW RU ENDOWMENT

A new endowment at Radford University will honor a former professor and help establish scholarships and a special library collection.

The endowment honors Clementene Hansley-Hurt, who taught psychology at Radford for nine years. She died last October. She was on the Affirmative Action Advisory Committee and worked in minority-student recruitment.

Once created, the endowment will fund scholarships for black students. Also, it will help establish a special library collection on black women.

The initial goal is $10,000. Fund-raising began last month with an appearance by storyteller Mary Carter Smith.
