ANCIENT PERUVIAN CHIEF ON DISPLAY WITH RICHES

The skeletal remains of the Lord of Sipan, the second-century warrior-priest whose tomb was discovered in Peru's coastal desert in 1987, were publicly unveiled Tuesday.

President Alberto Fujimori is using the remains and an accompanying collection of gold, silver and copper to spearhead a campaign to improve the country's image.

Once a tourist mecca, Peru has been plagued by guerrillas, economic chaos and even a cholera epidemic that have scared off visitors. - Associated Press
