OBIT GRIFFITH, LUCILE C.
GRIFFITH, Lucile C., 90, of 403 Seventh Street, Shenandoah, Va., died
February 24, 1993. She passed from this life to eternal life with her Creator
during the early morning hours. She was the wife of the late Gilbert I.
Griffith and the daughter of the late Joseph Layton Carrier and Neina Maddox
Carrier. She was born in Rockingham County August 24, 1902. She was a faithful
member of St. Peters Lutheran Church at Shenandoah where she was director of
the choir for over 40 years. Among those who survive and cherish the many fine
memories of her cheerful life, are a daughter and son-in-law, Mary Catherine
and Harry Hansbrough of Roanoke; two grandsons, Harry Hansbrough Jr. and
Donald A. Hansbrough; a granddaughter-in-law, Deborah Hansbrough; two
great-grandchildren, Nicholas and Amy Hansbrough, all of Blue Ridge; also
surviving are two "heart-adopted" grandsons, Charles and George Grunewald and
wife, Loretta Grunewald of Shenandoah. Her compassion and service to others
have always been an example to her family and friends and we are challenged to
preserve this legacy. The funeral service was held at St. Peters Lutheran
Church in Shenandoah with the Revs. William Boldin and Kenneth Lane
officiating. Memorials may be made to St. Peters Lutheran Church, Shenandoah
or Shenandoah Rescue Squad.
