GOODLATTE SPEAKS HIS DISTRICT'S DESIRES
YOUR LACKEY-LIKE espousal of President Clinton's tax-and-spend proposals as outlined in the Feb. 20 editorial, "Let's see the critics' plan," only once again exposes your bias against what the people of the 6th District really want to be done by the Congress in Washington. Your swipe at Bob Goodlatte, who was overwhelmingly elected by 6th District voters, only emphasizes that bias against anything or anyone Republican.Goodlatte's remarks, as mentioned by you, only express the views of his constituents - as admitted by you in the aforementioned editorial. Is he supposed to go against the expressed views of the constituency who elected him? Is he supposed to lie, as Clinton is wont and so able to do?
There is practically nothing in Clinton's proposals that will seriously reduce the deficit that has been created by a liberal Democratic Congress. It is, as Goodlatte described it, a tax-and-spend monopoly. The change we really need in this country is a change in the makeup of Congress. Let's get rid of the tax-and-spend liberals in the 1994 election, and you will see this country revert to what it was before the 1960s' radical group took control. A. DeLANOY FLYNN VINTON
