AMERICAN WOMEN'S SHOW OFFERS SOMETHING FOR ALL

This weekend, there's one place in the Roanoke Valley where shoppers will be able to find treats for the taste buds, ideas for the wedding, tips for senior citizens, new products, the Roanoke Symphony Orchestra and car care for women. It's all under one roof March 12-14 at the American Women's Show.

And, organizers promise, "men won't be bored!" The show is aimed primarily at women, however, and "its a shopping show," said Brenda Liles, coordinator. She advises show-goers to to "wear your shopping shoes."

As an added service to shoppers, baby-sitting will be provided by Lakeside Baptist Church. The church will offer free baby-sitting for up to 2 hours, and mothers who use the service also will receive a coupon for a free day at Lakeside Baptist's pre-school.

The show will feature "products you can't find in the Roanoke Valley and local merchants you may not have met yet," Liles said.

The products, special events and seminars have been designed to appeal to every woman, "regardless of her position in society - whether she's president of a company or president of her house, teen-aged or senior citizen."

Several popular features of the show are back again this year. The cooking stage will showcase local chefs as well as Pat Mitchamore and Lynne Tolley, co-authors of Jack Daniel's "The Spirit of Tennessee Cookbook." Larry and Laban of WBRA's "Cookin' Cheap" also will treat fans to their own brand of kitchen antics. David Bowers will open the event with the help of Victoria Bond and the Jack Daniel's chefs.

The show will be open noon to 9 p.m. Friday, 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday and noon to 6 p.m. Sunday. Tickets are $4 for adults, $2 for children and students, and $2 for groups.
