CROWN RALLIES HIGHLANDERS TO BIG SOUTH SEMIFINALS

Tammie Crown scored 20 points, 16 in the second half, to lead Radford University to an 81-62 victory over Coastal Carolina on Thursday in the quarterfinals of the Big South Conference women's basketball tournament at Dedmon Center.

Radford (15-11) will face Liberty in today's second semifinal game at 8 p.m.

Crown, the Big South player of the year, made eight of 10 field-goal attempts. The three-time defending champion Highlanders shot 55 percent from the field in the second half as Radford broke open a tight game with a 20-4 run to end the game.

Shannan Wilkey added 20 for Radford, which trailed 37-31 at the half.

Kim Lewis topped the seventh-seeded Chanticleers (11-17) with 20 points and nine rebounds.

\ In other first-round games: Liberty 66, Campbell 57: Dawn Coleman scored 17 points and grabbed 10 rebounds as the sixth-seeded Flames upset the third-seeded Camels. Liberty (16-11) led by 13 in the second half and Campbell (16-10) never got it closer than four. Freshman Beth Stockwell scored 18 points for Campbell.
