SLAYING SUSPECT KILLS HIMSELF

A Spotsylvania County man who allegedly shot a former girlfriend to death before killing himself was free on bond against the recommendation of a judge.

John L. Durham allegedly shot and killed Jennifer Kosch outside her parents' home in Fredericksburg on Wednesday. Durham shot and killed himself about six hours later in the parking lot of a Warrenton shopping center as police surrounded his car, authorities said.

According to police, the incidents followed other violence by Durham, 23, against Kosch, 22.
