OBIT BROOKS, RUSSELL ALFRED
BROOKS, Russell Alfred, 78, of Roanoke, passed away Thursday, March 11,
1993. He was a member of Belmont Baptist Church and Berean Sunday School
Class, a Navy veteran of World War II, a member of V.F.W. Post 404. Mr. Brooks
retired from Red Line, Inc. in 1973 and Teamsters Local #171. Surviving are
his wife, Mildred Jones Brooks; his son, David Russell Brooks, and wife, Pat,
Roanoke; his daughter, Judy B. Barr and husband, Mike, Matthews, N.C.; his
grandchildren, David W. Brooks and wife, Robin, Mark A. Brooks and wife,
Wendy, and Melissa A. Brooks, all of Roanoke, Chad M. Barr, Jason R. Barr and
Steven D. Barr, all of Matthews, N.C. Also surviving are a number of nieces
and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted from Lotz Roanoke Chapel 2
p.m. Monday, March 15, 1993 with Rev. Chris Rakestraw officiating. Interment
will be in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at
Lotz Roanoke Chapel, 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. both Saturday and Sunday.
