WHO, WHEN & WHERE

Virginia Horse Festival

The horses will gallop into Lexington's Virginia Horse Center next month for the fifth annual Virginia Horse Festival. And for five bucks, you can see them both days.

The festival runs April 17 from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., and resumes April 18 from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Among the events scheduled are a parade of breeds, carousel rides, a trade show and demonstrations, races and a draft horse pulling contest, an equine art and photography show, and children's activities.

A pig roast will be held April 17 from 5-8 p.m., with tickets ($15 adult, $7.50 children) including admission to the entire festival.

Folks wishing to enter the art and photography show should call for an entry form. Original art works and photos depicting the horse in any setting will be accepted in the categories of open art, open photography and student.

Vending and exhibition space is available for rent.

A single day pass to the festival is $3 or $2 for children 12 and under. Both days can be had for $5, or $3 children 12 and under. For more information, call the center at 463-2194.

For more information, call the museum at 342-5670.
