EX-TECH COACH ALLEN PRODUCES
To Jack Bogaczyk:Thanks for the informative and inspiring update on ex-VPI coach Frankie Allen.
For the hundreds of young people whose lives he has touched, through their participation in the summer basketball camp that he initiated (and still continues), his ex-Virginia Tech players, fans and friends, his commendable achievements in just two years at Tennessee State confirm the adage: "When life serves you lemons (and you've got all the right stuff/qualifications), you just proceed to produce lemonade."
With the record that Frankie and his Tennessee State Tigers have amassed, you can't help wondering if VPI, in its haste to replace Frankie, may have acquired a lemon that, thus far, has failed to demonstrate the recipe for making lemonade. Could it be that VPI, in selecting Frankie's successor, mistook a lime for a lemon, which might be interpreted as "just a matter of color?" Let's hope not. LINDA BOHANNON SWEET ROANOKE
