RACE ACTIVITY POSTPONED BY BLIZZARD
The blizzard that wiped out racing activity Saturday at Atlanta Motor Speedway forced postponement of today's scheduled Motorcraft 500 stock-car race until next weekend.Track spokesman Richard Sowers said there will be a practice session on Friday and the race will be run at 1 p.m. next Saturday.
Rusty Wallace, who won the pole in Friday's qualifying session, on Saturday made it out to the track, 30 miles south of downtown Atlanta in Hampton, Ga.
"The postponement will not bother me at all," he said. "I'm ready to go and I'll be ready to go next Saturday. I'm looking forward to winning the Motorcraft 500. It should be a great race."
The storm, with heavy snow and winds up to 50 mph, forced AMS officials to cancel the second round of qualifying for the Winston Cup race and postpone the Slick 50 300 Grand National stock-car race, both of which had been scheduled for Saturday.
Sowers said the Grand National race will be at a later date after a review of the schedule and other considerations.
