OBIT BUCHANAN, ANNIE BELLE COLLINS

BUCHANAN, Annie Belle Collins, 80, of Pearisburg, died at her home Saturday, March 13, 1993. Mrs. Buchanan was born at Hoges Chapel, Va., on June 16, 1912 and was a daughter of the late George W. and Minnie Jane Hamblin Collins. She was preceded in death by three brothers, William Warren ("Jack") Collins, Robert Collins, B. Melvin Collins; three sisters, Josephine Collins Kirk, Frances L. Collins, Virginia R. Collins. Mrs. Buchanan was an active member of the Green Valley United Methodist Church. She was the widow of Wiley Blake Buchanan, Sr. She is survived by one daughter, John ("Juanita") Peck of Woodford; three sons, Wiley Blake ("W B") Buchanan, Jr. of Pearisburg, W. H. ("Billy") Buchanan of Mesquite, Texas; Cleveland Roosevelt Buchanan of Pembroke; three sisters, Mrs. James ("Pansey") Hetherington of Trigg, Mrs. Warren ("Christine") Kirk of Trigg, Mrs. Garfield ("Estella") Bales of Pearisburg; two brothers, George Calvin Collins of Tucson, Ariz., Donald Collins of Staffordsvile; 14 grandchildren, Thomas B. Buchanan, Kenneth E. Buchanan, Phillip H. Buchanan, Anna F. Buchanan, Ella J. Buchanan, Julie Buchanan Poncy, Timothy H. Buchanan, Elaine Buchanan Hooper, Robert W. Buchanan, Shawn ("Teddy") Buchanan, Jeffrey C. Buchanan, Christie R. Buchanan, Gary W. Peck and Edwin L. Peck; 12 great-grandchildren and special friends, James, Mary and Julie Wendel of Eggleston. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, March 18, 1992, at 2 p.m. in the Givens Funeral Chapel, Pearisburg, with the Rev. Eugene Chafin and the Rev. Larry Patton officiating, with burial in Birchlawn Burial Park. The family will receive friends at any time at the home of W B and Mary Buchanan and at the Givens Funeral Home Wednesday evening from 6 to 9 p.m. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Green Valley United Methodist Church or the Giles Rescue Squad.
