OBIT MITCHELL, FREDERICK BURTON JR.

MITCHELL, Frederick Burton Jr., 77, of Pulaski died Tuesday, March 16, 1993 at his home. He resided at 600 Prospect Avenue in Pulaski. Mr. Mitchell was born in Bluefield, W.Va., on November 8, 1915, and was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Frederick Burton Mitchell Sr. He was a retired employee of Appalachian Power Co., Pulaski, having 47 1/2 years of service, a member of the First United Methodist Church, a veteran of the United States Navy having served during World War II, a member of the Pulaski American Legion Post and a member of the Draper Ruritan Club. Surviving are his wife, Polly Gatewood Mitchell, Pulaski; daughter, Susan G. Mitchell, Blacksburg. A memorial service will be held Friday at 11 a.m. from the First United Methodist Church (Family Life Center) with the Rev. Jack Weikel and the Rev. Ty Harrison officiating. Burial will follow at a later date at the Monta Vista Cemetery, Bluefield, W.Va. The family will receive friends after the service at the First United Methodist Church, Family Life Center. In lieu of flowers, the family wishes that memorials be made to the New River Valley Rescue Squad or the charity of one's choice. Arrangements by Stevens Funeral Home, Pulaski.
