OBIT JONES, IRENE

JONES, Irene, 82, of Marion, died Sunday, March 21, 1993, in Smyth County Community Hospital. She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry C. Jones; and two sons, Roy Allen and Carl "Frank" Jones. She was a lifelong member of the Marion Baptist Church. She is survived by three daughters and one son-in-law, Ruth Henderson, Hazel McFarlane, and Margaret and Tommy Anders, all of Marion; seven sons and six daughters-in-law, Henry J. and Leoda Jones of Galax, Raymond H. and Cheri Jones of Sacramento, Calif., Walter and Evelyn Jones of Atkins, Earnest and Carole Jones of Richmond, Clifford R. and Phyllis Jones of Groseclose, Steve and Dreama Jones of Atkins, Harold Jones of Marion; one brother and sister-in-law, Earnest and Nancy Snavely of Marion; 30 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren; four stepgreat-grandchildren; four stepgreat-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, March 23, at 4 p.m. at the Marion Baptist Church with Dr. William A. Slater and Rev. Mike Sage officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Lawn Cemetery. The body will be taken to the church one hour before the service. Flowers will be accepted or donations may be made to the Marion Baptist Church. The family will receive friends Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel. Seaver-Brown Funeral Service is in charge of the arrangements.
