PANTHERS SWEEP CHRISTOPHER NEWPORT
Ferrum swept its Dixie Conference doubleheader with Christopher Newport as Chris Holt and Jeremy Hill each finished 5-for-9 with a homer in the two games. Ferrum won the first game 8-4 and the second game 4-1. Second baseman Holt finished with four RBI; Hill had three. The Panthers (7-2 overall, 2-0 Dixie) play Christopher Newport (3-4, 0-2) again today at noon.At Norfolk, Washington and Lee (1-3, 1-2) rallied for the three runs in the seventh inning to defeat Virginia Wesleyan 5-4 after dropping the first game 8-6 for a split of the Old Dominion Athletic Conference games.
Wet field conditions forced Virginia Tech to postpone its game against Kent at English Field until noon today. Tech has had to postpone or cancel three games in the past week. The Hokies also will play UNC Greensboro today at 3 p.m. in Blacksburg, weather permitting.
