OBIT PRICE, JAMES ALBERT
PRICE, James Albert, 88, of Pembroke, died Friday, March 19, 1993, at a
Rich Creek nursing home. Born in Shell Creek, Tenn., on June 15, 1904, he was
a son of the late William C. and Ida Lucas Price. Mr. Price was a prominent
Pembroke farmer, operating the Price family farm for most of his life. He was
a member of the First United Methodist Church of Pembrok, a director of the
Pembroke Mutual Telephone Company, a member of the Pembroke Ruritan Club; and
he served for over forty years on the ASC committee. He was preceded in death
by a daughter, Frances P. Shorter. He is survived by his wife of 70 years,
Cella Johnston Price; one daughter, Lois P. Wootton, Virginia Beach; two sons,
James A. Price Jr. of Lynchburg, Daniel C. Price of North Augusta, S.C.; eight
grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted
11 a.m. Monday in the First United Methodist Church of Pembroke with the Rev.
Lowell Stovall and the Rev. Eddie Kendall officiating. Burial will follow in
Westview Cemetery, Blacksburg. The family will receive friends at the Kendall
Funeral Home in Pembroke Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. The funeral home will be open
for visitors anytime after noon on Sunday. In lieu of flowers, the family
suggests contributions be made to the building fund of the First United
Methodist Church of Pembroke.
