OBIT GEARHART, MILDRED NIXON

GEARHART, Mildred Nixon ("Pete"), 74, of Buena Vista, died Saturday, March 20, 1993, at her residence. Born in Nelson County, Va., February 26, 1918, she was a daughter of the late Samuel Joseph and Annie Moxley Nixon. She was the widow of Isaac Laban Gearhart. Mrs. Gearhart was a member of, and was currently serving on the vestry of, St. Johns Episcopal Church of Glasgow. She was retired from Lees Carpet. She is survived by two sisters, Dorothy N. Smiley and May N. Stinson, both of Glasgow; one brother, S. Franklin Nixon, Glasgow; eleven nieces and nephews; and seventeen great-nieces and great-nephews. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday morning at 11 a.m. from the St. Johns Episcopal Church with the Rev. D. Holmes Irving Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in Green Hill Cemetery, Buena Vista. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Buena Vista First Aid Crew, or to St. Johns Episcopal Church. The family will receive friends from 7 until 8 p.m. Monday at Harrison Funeral Home, Lexington.
