OBIT POFF, EFFIE BROWN

POFF, Effie Brown, 88, of Boones Mill, died Sunday, March 21, 1993. She went to be with the Lord Sunday. She was the widow of Grifton Andy Poff. She was a member of the Roanoke Congregational Holiness Church for over 32 years. She was preceded in death by her sons, Willie A. Poff and Norris E. Poff. She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Margaret and Samuel Hofawger, King, N.C., Everlene and Billy Altice, Marlene (Molly) Moore, all of Rocky Mount, Peggy and Billy Walters, Richmond, Carolyn and James Conner, Roanoke, Barbara and Ronnie Turner, Boones Mill; daughter-in-law, Joan Poff, Vinton; sisters, Alun Beckner, Callaway, Maggie Clemons, Nova Bush, both of Roanoke; brothers, David Brown, Boones Mill, Raymond Brown, Callaway; 13 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at noon Wednesday at the Lotz Roanoke Chapel by the Rev. John L. Wilson, with burial in Sherwood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Tuesday at the Lotz Roanoke Chapel. Friends are invited to visit with the family after the service on Wednesday at the home of James and Carolyn Conner, 3421 Oaklawn Ave., N.W., Roanoke. Arrangements are being handled by the Lotz Roanoke Chapel.
