HOLLY NEAR IN TECH CONCERT TONIGHT
Recording artist Holly Near, known as a pioneer of the women's music movement, will perform tonight at Virginia Tech.The concert begins at 8 in the Old Dominion Ballroom at Squires Student Center.
Near, who has recorded 15 albums and sold more than 1.5 million copies, will perform cuts from her latest, "Singer in the Storm."
The album title comes from the title of her autobiography, "Fire in the Rain . . . Singer in the Storm," an account of her life as an artist and as an activist.
In the last 20 years, Near has toured the world as an ambassador for peace. She recently performed in El Salvador.
Her concert at Virginia Tech is part of the Women's Week celebration.
Tickets, $6, are available at the Record Exchange and at Annie Kay's Whole Foods in downtown Blacksburg.
