ETC. SALEM BUCCANEERS LOSE IN EXHIBITION
At Fort Myers, Fla., the Lynchburg Red Sox beat the Salem Buccaneers 5-3 in a Class A Carolina League exhibition game. Ron Plemmons and Dave Maize each drove in a run for the Bucs and starter Gary Wilson pitched three perfect innings. The Red Sox scored one run in the fourth inning and four in the sixth, all off Matt Ruble.North Cross got goals from five players and shutout goaltending by John Kinney in a 5-0 boys' soccer victory at the Raiders' field. Mark Roberts, William Watkins, John Prillaman, Jamie Bell and George Vogel had the North Cross goals. The Raiders outshot Martinsville 21-7.
