CORRECTIONS

A story in Tuesday's paper said incorrectly that a $76,000 fine against Avtex Fibers in 1989 was the second highest ever imposed by state occupational safety officials until last week's $610,000 penalty against Roanoke Belt Inc. Over the years, three fines against other companies - for $218,000, $92,000 and $83,000 - exceeded that of Avtex Fibers.

Because of a production error, the Funky Winkerbean comic strips for Wednesday and today were run in the wrong order.
