FLOYD ROAD PLANS ANNOUNCED
The Virginia Department of Transportation has announced road-improvement projects for Floyd County that will repair three roads and total more than $300,000.Virginia 766 will be widened and will get new asphalt. The project begins at Virginia 730 and ends about a mile north of Virginia 767, for a total of 1 1/2 miles. Reed's Excavating of Floyd received the $162,036.18 contract.
Virginia 624 and Virginia 727 will be improved under a $153,888.93 project awarded to S. R. Draper Paving Co. Inc. of Roanoke. The first project begins a mile north of Virginia 727 and ends about 2\ miles north. The second project is a one-mile section beginning at Virginia 604 and ending at Virginia 799.
Statewide, the state Transportation Board awarded 28 contracts valued at $15.7 million and work begins next month. The department advises motorists to drive cautiously around highway projects.
