OBIT OGLESBY, FRANCIS SHIPP JR.

OGLESBY, Francis Shipp Jr., 80, of Draper's Valley, died Tuesday, March 23, 1993, at his home. Born February 14, 1913, in Draper's Valley, he was the son of the late Francis Shipp Oglesby Sr. and Elizabeth Wood Oglesby. He was a prominent farmer and cattleman in the valley for over 50 years before retiring. Mr. Oglesby was a member of the Draper's Valley Presbyterian Church, where he served as a deacon for many years; and was a member of the Draper Ruritan Club and the Virginia Farm Bureau. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Mary O. Brown and Elizabeth Oglesby. He is survived by his wife, Suella Rowe Oglesby; two sons, Frank S. Oglesby III of Draper, Bill Oglesby of Cincinnati, Ohio; one daughter, Mrs. C. D. "Sue" Doyle of Oakdale, N.Y.; two sisters, Mrs. Jane O. Luttrell of Dublin, Mrs. Alice O. Smith of Roanoke; one brother, Richard B. Oglesby of Wytheville; four grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Friday from the Draper's Valley Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Preston Sartelle officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Draper's Valley Presbyterian Church. Visiting will be from 7 until 9 p.m. Thursday from Thomas M. Seagle & Sons Funeral Home, Pulaski.
