Interest survey planned for Chapter 1 preschool

The Chapter 1 program of Roanoke public schools is conducting an interest survey for the 1993-94 preschool program for 4-year-olds.

Information brochures are available today and Friday during school hours at all Chapter 1 elementary schools. They are: Fallon Park, Forest Park, Hurt Park, Lincoln Terrace, Morningside, Preston Park, Roanoke Academy for Math and Science, Virginia Heights Annex at Highland Park, and Westside.

Interested families of children who will be 4 years old on or before Sept. 30 are asked to pick up the information, complete the survey and return it to the school where their children most likely will attend kindergarten.

For more information, call 981-2957.

Older Worker of Year nominations sought

The awards ceremony and luncheon will be held April 23 at 12:30 p.m. at Crossroads Mall, in conjunction with the Older Worker Job Fair from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

For more information about the Older Worker of the Year Award, Older Worker Job Fair or the LOA's Senior Employment Program, call Ron Boyd at 345-0451. > Dystrophy association needs camp volunteers

Mountain View pupils hold phone book drive

Pupils at Mountain View Elementary School will hold their telephone book recycling drive again this year.

C&P Telephone will distribute new directories later this month, and pupils ask customers to take their old telephone books to the school, at 5901 Plantation Circle, before April 30.

To arrange for pickup of large numbers of telephone books, call 561-8175.

Mountain View pupils have recycled more than 30,000 telephone books in the three years they have sponsored the program.
