LACROSSE-ROANOKE WOMEN KNOCK OFF HARTWICK
Jennifer Shimrack scored four goals as Roanoke's women's team rolled to a 12-6 victory over Hartwick College of Oneonta, N.Y., at the Maroons' field in Salem. Roanoke (1-1), ranked third among Division III teams nationally, led 5-4 at the half and gradually pulled away. Deirdre Kennedy had five goals for Hartwick (1-1). Liz Florence added three goals for Roanoke, which plays host to Plymouth (Mass.) State on Saturday at 4 p.m.Lisa Dowling scored six goals for the third straight game, and Angie Carrington and Lindsay Coleman had five apiece as Washington and Lee's women's team routed Lynchburg 22-9 in Lexington. The Generals remained unbeaten in four games, including three in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference. Lynchburg is 2-1 overall and in league play.
