BASEBALL-KEYDETS BLAST HOWARD 11-2
Ryan Glynn pitched four innings of one-hit relief and hit a solo home run as VMI trounced Howard 11-2 in Lexington. Glynn finished 2-for-3 as a hitter and struck out five batters after taking over for starter Mark Hazelwood in the sixth inning for the Keydets (9-11). Howard is 1-22.Washington and Lee scored five runs in the ninth inning, three on shortstop Jon Hesse's bases-loaded double, to rally past Lynchburg 6-5 in an Old Dominion Athletic Conference game in Lynchburg. The Generals (2-3 overall, 2-2 ODAC) trailed 3-1 after eight innings, but Lynchburg scored two runs in the bottom of the ninth. Freshman reliever Graig Fantuzzi short-circuited the comeback by getting the final two outs.
