OBIT-CALDWELL, GLADYS BUSH

CALDWELL, Gladys Bush, 89, of Roanoke, passed away Wednesday afternoon, March 24, 1993, at her home. Born March 26, 1903, in Botetourt County, she was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. George D. Caldwell, who pastored at Hales Ford Baptist Church and Suck Springs Baptist Church. She was also preceded in death by a son, James (Leo) Caldwell. She was employed by National Business College, as a house mother and librarian assistant, for 28 years. She was a member of Vinton Baptist Church. Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Harry I. and Madeline W. Caldwell, Roanoke; three daughters and sons-in-law, M. Catherine and Paul Shephard, Salem, JoAnne E. and Ira E. Hartman, Troutville, Janet M. and Robert L. Meador, Lexington; a daughter-in-law, Mrs. Libby B. Caldwell, Wirtz; twelve grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Ruth Cronk, and Mrs. Lucille Benson, both of Roanoke; three brothers, James H. Bush, Hagerstown, Md., Rev. Carl U. Bush, Florida, Nelson H. Bush, Roanoke; two sisters-in-law, Mrs. Myrtle Bush, and Mrs. Grace Bush, both of Roanoke. Funeral services will be conducted from Oakey's Vinton Chapel, 2 p.m. Saturday, March 27, 1993 with the Rev. Dr. William L. Ross, and Rev. Eugene Burris officiating. Burial will be in Troutville Cemetery. Friends may call at Oakey`s Vinton Chapel where the family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday.
