OBIT-JOHNSON, IDA KIRBY

JOHNSON, Ida Kirby, 85, of Bedford, died Thursday, March 25, 1993 in Bedford County Memorial Hospital. She was born in Bedford County on December 27, 1907, a daughter of the late Charlie Christopher Kirby and Adeline Tucker Krantz Kirby. She was a member of Main Street United Methodist Church and was preceded in death by her husband William Earl Johnson and a grandson, William Thomas "W.T." Johnson. She is survived by three sons, William T. Johnson of Bedford, Robert E. Johnson of Forest and E. Van Johnson of Boones Mill; ten grandchildren, Scott Amory Johnson, Ryan Earl Johnson, Kim J. Snow, Ivy J. Collier, Barry G. Johnson, Jennifer B. Johnson, Candy F. Hartman, Michelle F. Hudson, Lisa F. Turner, and Michael T. Frazier; also nine great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 27, 1993 at the Carder-Tharp Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Dr. Carl H. Douglass, Jr. and the Rev. Jack D. Lyles officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Building Fund of Main Street United Methodist Church or the Bedford Life Saving Crew. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the Carder-Tharp Funeral Home.
