PAINTER, J. C. Jr., 76, 529 N. Jefferson Avenue, Pulaski, died Thursday,
March 25, 1993, in the Virginia Veterans Care Center, Roanoke. He was born in
Roanoke, Virginia on January 23, 1917, and was the son of the late James
Caddall Painter Sr. and Maude Miller Painter. He was a member and deacon of
the Draper's Valley Presbyterian Church, where for many years he served as
secretary of the men of the church. He was a disabled veteran of World War II,
where he was a Sgt. in the United States Army/Air Corp. Surviving are a sister
and brother-in-law, Virginia and Richard Perkins, Wytheville; one niece, Betsy
Dandridge Perkins, Wytheville; three nephews, James Richard C. Perkins,
Savannah, Ga., T. Preston Painter Jr., Lawrenceville, Ga., and Richard W.
Painter, Ashland, Ohio; three great-nephews. A graveside service will be held
Saturday at 2 p.m. from the Draper's Valley Presbyterian Church Cemetery with
the Rev. Preston O. Sartelle Jr. and the Rev. Kyle Barr officiating. Visiting
will be Friday night from 7 to 8:30 p.m. from the Draper's Valley Presbyterian
Church. In lieu of flowers, the family wishes that memorials be made to the
Draper's Valley Presbyterian Church, Rt. 1, Draper, Va. 24324, or to the
charity of ones choice. Arrangements by Stevens Funeral Home, Inc., Pulaski.
