OBIT-BURKE, MARGARET ELLEN CUMMINS

BURKE, Margaret Ellen Cummins, 68, of Lexington, died Wednesday, March 24, 1993 at the Roanoke Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Burke was born August 24, 1924, in Fairfield, a daughter of the late Carroll Alexander and Annie Ware Cummins. She was a life member of the Timber Ridge Old Stone Presbyterian Church, Lexington, a retired secretary for the Vo Tech School and a former clerk on the Rockbridge County School Board. Survivors include her husband, F. Edwin Burke, Lexington; a daughter, Lisa B. Turpin, Lexington; a son, Barry E. Burke, Roanoke; a brother, R.S. Cummins, Roanoke; two sisters, Mary Ann Herndon, Gordonsville, Jane Jones, Greensboro, Ala.; one grandson. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, March 27, 1993 at 11 a.m. at the Timber Ridge Old Stone Presbyterian Church with Rev. Lisa M. Wilson officiating with burial to follow in the Timber Ridge A.R.P. Cemetery, Lexington. The family suggests donations be made to the American Cancer Society Rockbridge Unit, P.O. Box 100, Lexington, Va. 24450 or the Timber Ridge Old Stone Memorial Fund. The family will receive friends Friday night from 7 to 8 at the Harrison Funeral Home, Lexington.
