SOMETHING TO CRY ABOUT

HEY, YOU old codgers - whom Secretary of the Treasury Bentson called crybabies when you griped about his catastrophic health-care-tax-on-oldies-only - get your pencils out.

After you figure your federal income tax for 1992, go back and crank in 85 percent of your Social Security benefit instead of the 50 percent you were taxed on this year.

Now you know how much additional tax the increased Social Security tax will cost you next year. Then stand by for the energy tax, the health-plan tax and the tax-on-the-rich tax. Oh yes, if you are not rich in 1993, you surely will be in 1994. THOMAS E. WIGGINS CLIFTON FORGE
