KIWANIANS WORK TO REOPEN CAMP

The Radford Kiwanis Club hopes to resume its summer camps for underprivileged children this year after a cleanup of the property, starting today.

The Kiwanis has leased 84 acres on the Little River in Montgomery and Pulaski counties for three decades, and recently renewed the lease with the city of Radford, Tracy Howard, chairman of the Kiwanis campus committee, said.

The club had operated a camp for underprivileged children, but had to stop several years because of money, he said.

About a dozen Kiwanians and members of other groups are expected for today's cleanup between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m., Howard said.
