PADGETT POWERS LIBERTY TO VICTORY

At Bedford, Jerry Padgett hit a two-run home run that put his team ahead to stay and gave himself the pitching win in Liberty's 6-3 baseball victory over William Campbell, the Seminole District teams' season-opener. The game was called after five innings because of darkness.

At Moneta, Rustburg scored four unearned runs to top Staunton River 4-3 in both clubs' Seminole District opener.
