NOT ALL BELIEVERS ARE CHRISTIANS

IN RESPONSE to Jane Hughes' March 12 letter, "Gays are average American citizens":

Just because you believe in God, attend church and know that God created you doesn't make you a Christian. Even the devil and his fallen angels believe in God, but they surely aren't Christians. A Christian is someone who follows the teachings of Jesus Christ. Jesus called us all sinners and called us to repent and trust him for our eternal life. To repent means to turn away from sin. Whether that sin be homosexuality, adultery, drunkenness or whatever, we are to ask forgiveness and sin no more.

All this is spoken of in detail in the books of Acts, Romans and John. I urge those who think they are Christian because they believe in God to read these books. Your eternal life depends on it. LIBBIE McCUTCHEON ROANOKE
