Eliasson, ranked 43rd in the nation, outlasted Tech's Dinko Gudelj 6-3, 5-7, 7-5 in the singles competition. Gudelj was leading 5-4 and was serving for the match, but Eliasson broke serve twice in the last three games to win.
VCU (17-1) won two of the three doubles matches. Tech's Ognjen Pavlovic and Gudelj lost the No. 1 doubles to Fredrik Cosmo and Rob Pavliska 9-8 in a tie-breaker.
Marcus Kramer was the only singles winner for the Hokies. He defeated Pavliska 6-0, 2-6, 6-3 to extend his record to 21-7.
Heavy rains forced the cancellation of the second round of the Furman Intercollegiate Golf Tournament in Greensville, S.C. The teams will play 18 holes today and the tournament has been reduced from 54 to 36 holes.
Playing in the rain, Ferrum's golf team shot a 330 for the first-round lead of the 36-hole Concord College Invitational at Pipestem, W.Va. Washington and Lee is second at 338, followed by Concord at 348 and King's College of Wilkes-Barre, Pa., at 370. The individual leader is Concord's Brian Kemper, who shot a 79.
