OBIT EDWARDS, ETTA QUARLES
EDWARDS, Etta Quarles, 81, of Carriage Hill Retirement Center, Bedford,
died Friday, March 26, 1993, in a Bedford nursing home. She was born in
Bedford County on January 6, 1912, a daughter of the late Roger William
Quarles and Ossie Ola Ellis Quarles. She was a member of Main Street United
Methodist Church and the widow of Ernest M. Edwards. Survivors include her
daughter and son-in-law, Thelma and Rowland Taylor, Baltimore, Md.; a brother
and sister-in-law, Robert E. and Helen Quarles, Bedford. Also four
grandchildren; one great-granddaughter, and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted on Sunday, March 28, 1993, at 2 p.m.
Carder-Tharp Funeral Home with the Rev. Dr. Carl H. Douglass Jr. officiating.
The family will receive friends at the Carder-Tharp Funeral Home on Saturday
from 7 to 9 p.m. and other times at the residence of Robert and Helen Quarles.
Memorials may be made to either the Bedford Life Saving Crew or the Main
Street United Methodist Church Building Fund.
