IDEAS ON SPENDING ROAD MONEY SOUGHT

Got a particular pothole you want patched? The Virginia Department of Transportation wants to know about it.

The department is accepting letters through Wednesday offering suggestions on how $650 million should be spent for highway construction projects and public transit during the next fiscal year.

Ideas will be accepted on how to target the money to repair interstate, city, town and primary roads. Secondary roads - numbered 600 and above - are handled through county boards of supervisors.

Those interested can write: Fred Altizer Jr., District Administrator, Virginia Department of Transportation, P.O. Box 3071, Salem 24153. For more information, call (703) 387-5493.
