Sackett's night club will be closed until April 13 under a 15-day license suspension that includes an $1,800 fine, owner Jeff Chadwell said Monday.
The night club's adjoining restaurant, the Station House, will remain open but will not serve alcohol.
The suspension of Sackett's license resulted from several complaints, including that alcohol was served to intoxicated people.
Chadwell said the intoxication charges happened during a February 1992 David Alan Coe concert when five of 650 in the audience were judged to be intoxicated.
Chadwell said he lost money this past weekend because of erroneous news reports that the night club was not open.
The license suspension began Monday. Some of the money he expected to take in for a two-day appearance by the Dennis Tolbert Band would have been used to pay the fine, Chadwell said. Sackett's also can elect not to pay a fine and lose its license for 25 days.
The Bus Stop in Radford was given a 20-day license suspension for two administrative charges of allowing underage people to consume beer.
Tom Weedon, ABC information officer in Richmond, said that if the Bus Stop pays a $500 fine, the suspension will be for only 10 days.
In other police news, Radford police and agents from the state Alcoholic Beverage Control Department and the Department of Motor Vehicles made 68 arrests this weekend during a special enforcement of alcohol laws.
Radford Lt. J.D. Sasser said 42 people were charged with possessing alcohol underage and 10 were charged with possessing open containers of alcohol in public. Nine people were charged with having fake or altered drivers' licenses or identification cards.
