The Metro Conference has received automatic qualification for the NCAA Division I men's soccer tournament, league commissioner Ralph McFillen announced.

The national tournament, which this fall expands to 32 teams, will include automatic qualifiers from 16 conferences. The Metro soccer programs - Louisville, UNC Charlotte, South Florida, Virginia Commonwealth and Virginia Tech, plus soccer-only Metro affiliate South Carolina - will play a round-robin schedule, with the winner advancing to the tournament.

The addition of South Carolina gives the Metro the NCAA minimum of six league members required for automatic qualification.
