WAKE UP AND SMOKE THE COFFEE
I HAVE BEEN going back in memory when I used to swipe cigarettes -
Chesterfields and Piedmonts with no filters - from my grandparents. Prior to
this I would dry corn silk, tightly roll it up in newspapers, and light up.
But the smoke was so awful that I did this only once. I put fresh ground
coffee in my daddy's pipe and thought it rather good, so continued. About the
only thing I didn't try was snuff, because I had seen two of my siblings
strangle on it.
I am not against the uproar about smoking but think more needs to be said
against alcohol use.
Do I still smoke? I'm not talking! BEATRICE S. RICHARDSON SELMA
