BETTER CATS THAN RATS

I SEE THE General Assembly has bowed to the demand to lessen the cat population by passing a bill to charge cat owners a license fee.

What will they do to get rid of the rats and mice that multiply every 21 days? Spread poison to kill the rats and risk human poisoning?

Perhaps the younger generation does not know that the bubonic plague that killed so many people was spread from fleas that fell off of rats.

And how about the beautiful flower beds and lawns that mice and moles can turn into a plowed field?

Mice and moles are stray cats' food. I will buy tags for my cats, but I won't put a collar on them. My cats are outside animals and there is danger that collars will get caught on brush and trees. ALICE McMAHAN BLACKSBURG
