Entries also will be coming from schools in Wythe, Bland, Smyth, Carroll, Grayson counties and the city of Galax, as well as students from many of those localities who attend the Southwest Virginia Governor's School at Dublin.
Exhibits will be set up Friday and judged from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday. Then they will be open to the public for viewing until 4:30 p.m.
The entries are from among the top winners at local school science fairs, some of which held their first fairs just this year.
This is the second year for the regional science fair, which is again being sponsored by Wytheville and New River community colleges. It is supported by contributions from businesses in the services areas of the two community colleges.
The two grand award winners this year will take their science projects for further competition at the 44th annual Science and Engineering Fair in Gulfport, Miss. That fair is getting entries from 25 foreign countries along with schools from across this country.
