OBIT HEATH, CHARLES WALTER SR.
HEATH, Charles Walter Sr., 63, of the Mount Pleasant section of Roanoke
County, passed away at his home on Tuesday, March 30, 1993 from complications
from an auto accident, where he remained in a coma for four years. He was
preceded in death by his parents, Otis F. and Mamie C. Heath. He is survived
by his wife of 40 years, Joyce Hunt Heath; three daughters, Margie Heath Dodd,
Roanoke, Fayth Heath Bailey, Fairfax, Frances Heath Bedwell, Roanoke; one son,
C. Walter Heath Jr., Roanoke; two granddaughters, Lindsey Richardson, Paige
Bedwell; five grandsons, Jonathan Brown, Daniel Brown, Joe Bailey, Jonah
Bailey, Walter Krae Heath; a special family friend, Tina Davis Sensabaugh; two
sisters, Betty H. Robertson, Jenny Lynn Heath, both of Vinton; also many
aunts, uncles, cousins, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law. Mr. Heath was a
member of Thrasher Memorial United Methodist Church, Vinton. He was also a
former member of the Mount Pleasant Lions Club, the Roanoke Valley Woodcarvers
Association, Indian Creek Hunt Club, Hampton Roads Power Squadron, and
Peninsula Sand Sharks Diving Club. He served in the U.S. Navy. Mr. Heath was
longtime contractor on the Virginia Peninsula and in the Roanoke Valley.
Sincere appreciation to RMH Home Health and nurses Lynn Epperly, Judgette
Manns, Pattie Graybill, Libby Wagner, and Dr. C.A. Nottingham. Funeral
services will be conducted from the Mount Pleasant United Methodist Church at
11 a.m. Friday, April 2, with the Rev. Wm. Anthony Layman, the Rev. Dr. George
Wesley Jones, the Rev. Jean T. Rutherford, and the Rev. Anthony C. Busic
officiating. Burial will be in Mount Pleasant Cemetery. Donations, in lieu of
flowers, may be made to Area 8 Special Olympics, PO Box 163, Roanoke, VA 24002
or Camp Easter Seal West, 4841 Williamson Rd., Roanoke, VA 24012. Friends may
call at Oakey's Vinton Chapel, where the family will receive friends 7 to 9
p.m. Wednesday and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday.
