BASKETBALL KNIGHTS 7TH IN GIRLS' TOURNAMENT
Cave Spring shot 63 percent in pulling away from Johnson High School of Gainesville, Ga., for an 82-59 victory and seventh place in the Ladies Classic in Greeneville, Tenn.Kim Stewart led the Knights (8-2 overall, 3-1 in the tournament) with 25 points, hitting nine of 12 field-goal attempts. Amy Athey contributed 14 points and 10 rebounds. Cheryl Rhodes added 13 points.
Laurah Blair paced Johnson with 25 points, including five 3-pointers.
The six teams that finished ahead of Cave Spring are ranked nationally by USA Today.
In Front Royal, tournament MVP Chuck Green scored 31 points, including five 3-pointers, as Warren County edged Pulaski County 85-82 for the championship of the Northern Virginia Daily boys' tournament.
For Pulaski County (4-2), Monte Brown had 25 points, Tyrone Hash had 20 and Eric Webb added 15. The three were chosen to the all-tournament team.
