OBIT BLANKENSHIP, MILDRED ("PENNY")

BLANKENSHIP, Mildred ("Penny"), 69, of Fincastle, passed away at her home, Wednesday, December 30, 1992. She was the widow of Paul H. Blankenship. She was a retired registered nurse with the American Red Cross. She is survived by a stepson, Dr. John P. Blankenship, Richmond; three sisters, Mrs. Ethel Simon, Swoope, Mrs. Emma Wrenn, Danville, Mrs. Margaret Pulley, Fincastle; one brother and sister-in-law, E. M. (Pat) Blankenship and wife, Margaret Blankenship, Roanoke; three nieces and one nephew. Funeral services will be conducted at the graveside at Sherwood Memorial Park, 11 a.m. Saturday, January 2, 1993 with Dr. John P. Blankenship officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Roanoke Valley Transportation Museum or to the American Cancer Society. Friends may call Oakey's North Chapel where the family will receive friends, 7 to 9 p.m. Friday.
