PH TURNS BACK EAGLES 38-31

The Patrick Henry girls' basketball team got its first win of the season Friday, a 38-31 victory over Roanoke Valley Christian in the second game of the Roanoke Valley Christian Doubleheader.

The Patriots (1-5) were playing without leading scorer Elisha Jones, who was injured recently in a car accident. Jones is averaging 15 points per game.

Caroline Mays led the attack for PH with 12 points. Carrie Moore and Michelle King contributed 10 rebounds each.

The Eagles were paced by Jenny Coons with 11 points.

In the first game, William Fleming used full-court pressure to shut down Lynchburg Christian 67-34.

Marqueetta Randolph had 32 points and 11 rebounds to lead the Colonels (4-3). Roshida Abdul-Jabbar was 9-of-10 from the free-throw line and finished with 15 points and seven assists.

For Lynchburg Christian (5-1), Mandy Ferguson scored 14 points.
